When applied to the skin, retinol, to be active, transforms into retinal, then into retinoic acid, the active form of vitamin A.
By choosing retinal instead of retinol, this eliminates a step in the metabolization process. retinoic acid.
By suppressing oxidation, skin cells undergo one less transformation, and the metabolization of retinal to retinoic acid is more efficient. In addition, it avoids the side effects of retinol on the skin, such as irritation due to too high a dose of retinoids.
So with retinal, sensitive skin tolerates the active ingredient better because it is gentler.
