The PEG family carries a 1,4-dioxane risk.
PEG-based cleansers (PEG-6/-7/-40 and similar) come from the ethoxylate family, which can carry trace 1,4-dioxane — classified by IARC as Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic). The amounts are small per product; the concern is cumulative.
